Hi, I’m Uriel Alcaraz—the person behind Itay Productions. I am an electronic music artist/producer, audio engineer and sound designer originally from the South of Spain (Cartagena). Since 2018, I have been based in South-East London, where I work not only in my own artistic projects but also offer my expertise in audio to independent artists, filmmakers, and creators, helping them bringing their ideas to life. This may involve producing music for singers, capturing field recordings for a film, or designing sounds for a visual experience. Over the years, I have co-founded a lo-fi hip-hop label called Tataki-Tapes, built creative communities, and developed original projects that explore introspection and themes inspired from everyday life and memories. from a music album inspired by the beauty of small organisms and the unseen ecosystems all around us to an album that reflect the experience of embracing one’s home and daily routine after a long period of traveling around the world. My music and sound identity is highly influenced by genres such as ambient, Abstract hip-hop, Triphop, Downtempo and experimental sounds in general.
Crafting unique sonic experiences is at the core for my practice and my work is mostly concept—based: whether I am developing a personal project or collaborating with peers, I like to begin with a clear conceptual foundation before moving into the hands-on process.
I conceive sound and music as a form of auditory picture—a way to capture specific moments in time. Just as a photography or video capture a visual scene, recorded audio preserves the essence of a specific moment through sound, allowing for emotional and contextual recalls. When memories become fuzzy, we often associate them to a specific image. However, sounds can also help us reconnecting with them; hearing a particular sound or piece of music can trigger vivid mental reconstructions of scenes or experiences.
