Hi, I’m Uriel Alcaraz—the person behind Itay Productions. I’m an electronic music producer and sound artist originally from the south of Spain (Cartagena). Since 2018, I’ve been based in South-East London, where I work on my own creative projects as well as offering my expertise in sound to independent artists, filmmakers, and creators, helping them bring the desired sound to their works. This may involve producing music for solo artists or sound designing and capturing location recordings for visual experiences. Over the years, I’ve co-founded a lo-fi hip-hop label and developed original projects that explore introspection and themes inspired by everyday life and memories. From a music album inspired by the beauty of small organisms and the unseen ecosystems all around us to an album that reflects the experience of embracing one’s home and daily routine after a long period of travelling around the world. My music and sound identity are highly influenced by genres such as ambient, trip-hop, downtempo and experimental sounds in general.

Crafting unique sonic experiences through research is at the core of my practice, and my work is mostly concept-based. Whether I’m developing a personal project or collaborating with peers, I like to begin with a clear conceptual foundation before moving into the hands-on process.

My conception of sound and music is a form of auditory picture. A way to capture specific moments in time. Just as photography or video captures visual scenes, recorded audio preserves the essence of a specific moment through sound, allowing for emotional and contextual recalls. When memories become fuzzy, we often associate them with a specific image. However, sounds can also help us reconnect with them. Hearing a particular sound or piece of music can trigger vivid mental reconstructions of scenes or experiences.
