Itay Productions was born from the idea that sound creates a space in our memories where we can return just like visual assets. A tool for recalling meaningful moments in our lives.

Originally founded in 2014, it emerged deeply rooted in the need to express feelings through music. Over the years, the project has evolved into the embodiment of that original vision. A journey dedicated to sculpting soundscapes that connect, inspire, and enrich other creative projects. Itay is now the evolution of this original idea and is not just an artistic project butnot just a meeting point for those who believe in the narrative power of sound.

BEFORE ITAY

My professional journey with sound began in 2011, just after obtaining a sound technician diploma through a one-year course offered by the University of Seville. The same year, I began an internship at Radio Union, a local music radio station that introduced me to the world of media and helped me develop a professional sensitivity towards music and sound. At the same time, I dipped into the rave scene in my hometown (Cartagena) with my first alter ego, Offaxis, delving into the world of bass music and experimenting with genres such as drum and bass, dubstep, and glitch hop. Offaxis offered the freedom to experiment and develop my own sound as a producer while refining my technique as a DJ performing at prominent events in the region (Murcia), such as Electro Night, Transylvania, MVP, Beugly, Technosys Summer Festival, and UltraViolence Fest, sharing the stage with underground electronic artists such as Borgore and The Warriors.

Over the next years, I was involved in a range of creative projects, enabling me to explore a wide variety of music genres and approaches to produce and work with music. I co-founded Nineteen Steps in 2012, a duo dedicated exclusively to delivering electronic music DJ sets that emerged from a shared desire to engage with the dance floor, generate live energy, and connect with audiences through the music and performance. Both projects have played a pivotal role in developing my artistic identity as a producer and artist, equipping me with essential tools, artistic vision, and a valuable network of collaborators, significantly enriching my creative journey.

BECOMING ITAY

offersThis project emerged during a period of creative transition to a new artistic identity. I was looking for something personally meaningful that could resonate with the listeners. The project’s concept was based on the idea of blending folkloric Japanese sounds with modern electronic music at the time, and I wanted a name that evoked Japanese aesthetics, carried emotional depth, was easy to recognise, and was easy to pronounce in different languages. "Itay" is the acronym of the phrase “I Think About You”, reflecting my fascination with music and sound as a vessel for memories. The name encapsulates everything I was searching for and offer a form that is both accessible and rich in meaning.

In 2014, I released my first track under the name Itay, Stretching. The track was published by the Barcelona-based label Molts Records and marked a turning point as a producer, earning recognition such as “Discovery of the Month” by DJ Mag Spain and inclusion in Men’s Health Spain’s official playlist. This was a very positive experience and strengthened my motivation to remain committed to releasing original music. Shortly, I was releasing my music through other labels, including Molts Records again, Menta, Envy Music, Micromusic, Dred Collective, Golden Hall Records, and Tataki Tapes. These collaborations allowed me to explore and experiment with a range of genres and styles, from electronic music to hip-hop.

In 2015, I took a year away from music to travel across various parts of Europe and Southeast Asia as part of a project which aimed to collect folkloric stories and develop a library of field recordings from each location. After a period of artistic experimentation and renewal, I moved to London in 2018, discovering a genuine interest in Foley and exploring sound design and expanding my portfolio beyond music. During the COVID-19 pandemic, I became actively involved in an online community of sound designers hosted on Discord by the Austrian game developers Stillalive Studios. Thanks to this community, I participated in a sound design challenge organised by the American studio Heart Machine, in which participants were tasked with redesigning the sound for Hyper Light Drifter’s trailer, achieving second place in the competition.

In the summer of 2023, I took part in another challenge organised by SAE Institute London in collaboration with Ableton Live, which involved producing a two-minute track within a 30-minute time limit, and I was awarded first place in the competition. Thanks to this event, I met the actor André Ibrahim, who invited me to work as a sound recordist on his directorial debut short film, The Two Minutes Job. This year was also a turning point in both my personal and artistic development, as I became an active member of the Southeast London beatmaking community. Since then, I have regularly participated in open desks and networking events such as Loop Sessions, Frequent, Planet Wax, and Aaja Music, among others. This experience expanded both my artistic network and creative perspective, allowing me to take part in numerous events and collaborate with fellow producers. Furthermore, I embarked on a new academic journey by starting a degree in music production and sound engineering at the Academy of Contemporary Music to formalise my knowledge in the field, through which I have continued developing my skill set in sound theory and studio workflows. Since then, I have developed a growing interest in the role of sound in creating immersive environments and how sound is interconnected with image.

In September 2025, this academic journey will continue with a master's in music at Goldsmiths, University of London, where a deepened interest in sound art emerged alongside a broader engagement with sound and music as tools of investigation and exploration through practice-based creative research.
